The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board is thrilled to announce Sherwood Secondary School’s very own, Reign Lastiwka-Cooper as the recipient of the second Annual HamOnt Youth of the Year Award!

The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board is pleased to congratulate five of our very own HWDSB recent graduates as African Caribbean Cultural Potpourri Inc (ACCPI) winners, this past Saturday! These awards support students through their first year of post-secondary and recognize overall academic excellence and community involvement.

CELEBRATING EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION: 2024-25 WISMER AWARD PRESENTATION

Dear HWDSB Community, 

October invites us to pause, reflect, and act. This month, we recognize both Women’s History Month and the National Day of Action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG). For me as HWDSB’s first female Director of Education, these commemorations are an opportunity to honour history, reflect on our responsibilities, and recommit ourselves to creating safer, more equitable schools and workplaces. 

Dear Tapleytown Elementary School Families,

In keeping with our commitment to transparency and ensuring the community remains informed, we want to provide an update on recent changes to the New Nash school development.

In December 2023, the HWDSB Board of Trustees paused the new school build in Stoney Creek to allow staff to carefully investigate the changing conditions related to the activity at the GFL Regional Facility. In October 2024, Trustees approved moving forward with the new school build at the originally identified site.

HWDSB is accepting applications from students and parents/guardians/caregivers to join the HWDSB Human Rights and Equity (HRE) Community Advisory Committee.

With the new school year underway, students are diving back into clubs and sports. Whether it’s intramural games, gym classes, or interschool sports, prioritizing concussion safety is essential. Taking proper precautions and recognizing the signs and symptoms of a concussion can help keep every student safe and healthy while they stay active.
